Crafting A Productive Morning Routine

Today, we’re tackling the ever-important topic of morning routines. Let’s be honest: for those of you hustling in your full-time businesses, this one’s for you. I get it; if you’re still juggling a job, you’ve got some routine locked in to make it to your 9 to 5. But once you transition to the home office life, if you’re like me and crave structure, a morning routine becomes a game-changer.

Speaking from my own journey, the whole “I can start whenever I want” freedom left me feeling a bit lost when I started my business. Enter the morning routine – my secret weapon for success. Now, I’m not here to dictate when you should rise and shine; that’s a personal choice. The key is having a routine that sets you up for success, whether morning, afternoon, or whenever suits your groove.

Personally, I aim to hit my office between 9 and 10 AM. But before that, I’ve already conquered my morning routine. Making my bed – a habit I scoffed at before – is now a non-negotiable win right out of the gate. Then comes the usual morning drill – face wash, teeth brushing, and a little breakfast action.

But here’s where the magic happens. Before the workday officially kicks off, I dedicate time to a mindfulness practice. For me, it’s a five-minute meditation – gotta ease into that zen mode with my monkey mind. However, there are endless options – journaling, breathing exercises, gratitude reflections – choose what floats your boat.

Post-mindfulness, it’s exercise time. Early morning, no excuses (for me). I used to struggle with putting my business over my health, but now, a quick 10-minute walk or some yoga sets the tone. Remember, anything beats nothing – a lesson that took me a while to embrace.

With the morning rituals wrapped up, I dive into the day. Yes, I’m still a planner enthusiast with my paper and pen. Knowing my priorities for the day keeps me on track. Trust me, when I’ve let my morning routine slide, chaos ensues, and deadlines start haunting me.

Now, I know there’s a whole spiel about evening routines (we’ll get to that later), but after making my bed, meditating, journaling, exercising, and breakfasting, I officially kick off my day. Our businesses are an extension of ourselves, and neglecting our physical and mental health harms our professional game. It took me a while to grasp this, but morning routines are the real deal.

So, spill the beans, folks!

Do you have a morning routine? Are you a structure junkie like me, or are you more of a go-with-the-flow type? Share your thoughts!

And if you’re contemplating a morning routine, take it slow, find what works for you, and let it evolve. Morning routines are game-changers, and I’d love to hear how they’ve impacted your life. Thanks for tuning in – I hope you found these insights helpful. Until next time!

I LOVE my morning routine! I go to my gym 6 days a week for cardio, core or strength training. I put my health first (now that I’m an empty nester) before I even look at email or my calendar. That time is blocked off for me and is so important.
