Don’t be in a hurry and skip learning Virtual Assistant business skills. So many people underestimate how important these skills are to be successful in the long run and only focus on the hard skills. They just jump right into launching their VA business without taking the time to understand what it takes to manage and run a business.
More often than not they find themselves in over their head once they land a client because they don’t know what to do next. They’re not prepared because they didn’t take the time to set up their processes and systems and learn basic Virtual Assistant business skills aka professional skills.
Remember, this is a relationship-based business. Do you really want your client watching you frantically trying to figure out how to bill them or where to find a contract for them to sign? Not a good first impression…
Why Not Having Virtual Assistant Business Skills Is A Recipe For Disaster
- Your reputation IS your business and it could be in trouble if you don’t know how to manage it.
- If you’re someone who wants to attract professional clients and charge premium rates – this won’t fly.
- If you’re someone who wants to be in business for the long-term and have it sustain you for the foreseeable future, this won’t work either.
- Professionals expect to work with professionals.
That’s why it’s important to take the time to learn how to run a business. For example, how to implement the right systems to help automate your processes. You don’t need a college degree or MBA. I don’t have either one and I learned what I needed to run not one – but two – successful 6-figure businesses. If I can do it, so can you.
Don’t overlook Virtual Assistant business skills that can help set you up for long-term success and help you stand out as a professional. This is what I teach in my VA Success System. The business and digital marketing skills you need to be successful and viewed as a fellow professional. If you have the hard skills but lack the business knowledge, it might be worth a look.
