Virtual Assistant List Building: 6 Quick Tips To Grow Your List Of Fans + Potential New Clients

What is Virtual Assistant list building? Well, it’s generating a list of clients and prospects that are interested in you and your business. Most Virtual Assistants (really ALL Solopreneurs) do not spend enough time generating leads and building a quality list. It is crucial to spend time daily marketing your business to grow your list!

Why Is List Building Important?

  • Future long-term income.
  • Life and health for your business.
  • Give prospects the benefit of getting to know, like, and trust you.

I know many Virtual Assistants don’t think list building is needed or necessary but I can tell you from experience it can make a huge difference to your income. Think about it, if you build a list of raving fans all you need to do is send an email when you have space to take on a new client or project. Much easier than pitching to cold traffic. So here are a few simple tips to help you start building your list today.

Virtual Assistant List Building Tips

#1 – Free Offer AKA Lead Magnet

Create a fabulous free offer that shares your expertise, passion, and solves a problem. Most importantly give them a taste of what you offer and leave them wanting more. Did you know that it’s easier to drive prospects to a Freebie than drive them directly to a sale? Almost all of your marketing efforts to any prospective client should be to get them on your list, and what better way than to have a fabulous freebie! It can be something as simple as a:

  • Checklist
  • Template
  • Guide
  • Ebook

Remember, your lead magnet needs to focus on one problem and one solution.  You don’t want to overwhelm them by giving them too much. And don’t forget the CTA (Call to action). Tell them what they need to do next. This is a perfect place to add your Discovery Session.

#2 – Hold A Free Webinar

Hold a monthly webinar and post it on social media, forums, and anywhere else your ideal client hangs out. This is a great way to build your list quickly! It doesn’t have to be 30 minutes, it can be 20 minutes. As long as the participants get results. What should you do on the webinar? For example,

  • Teach them something.
  • Show them how to do something.
  • Explain an in-depth topic.

#3 – Blogging

If you like to write, try blogging. Write one every month and then share it where your dream clients are. Your blog topics need to be focused on the services you offer. Use the same ideas I shared above for the webinars but instead of a webinar write a blog post.

#4 – Social Media

Join LinkedIn and Facebook groups where your dream clients are NOT groups full of other Virtual Assistants. Here is where you can share your lead magnet, webinars, and blog to show prospective clients you know what you’re talking about. It’s all about showing up for yourself and being helpful. Start a conversation, share your expertise, give advice, and offer support but don’t SELL.

#5 – Speaking

Stand up and be heard!  Find a local club or networking group and volunteer to speak at one of their events.  This is a great way to build credibility and your list!

#6 – Live Or Virtual Events

Go to live or even virtual events such as networking meetings, seminars, and conferences.  Be bold and get yourself noticed. Participate! Ask questions, and share your knowledge and experiences.

You should be marketing your business to grow your list every single day (not pitching). Start now. Block out at least 15 minutes a day on your calendar and before you know it you’ll have a list of growing fans! Having a freebie is the first step in your Virtual Assistant Sales Funnel. Make it a great one!

What do you think? Feel free to post below and let me know what action you’re taking today to start growing your list. I’d love to hear from you. All comments and questions are welcome.

Great tips Susan, even for us veterans 🙂 I have to admit I don’t do #1 and 2. Perhaps I need to look into that. I do all the others and have always done them.

Hey Dina, be sure you promote it everywhere and create an event in Facebook and invite all your friends too! Another option that works great is Facebook ads. Good luck!
