My pleasure and thank you!
Great info. I am excited to give the Techie VA courses a try. Love all things tech! Tama
I love Susan’s podcasts! She shares the best tips and tricks, that are actually useful. My favorite part is there are quick and to the point, so I can squeeze them into my busy schedule. Thanks Susan for sharing your knowledge with others!!
Thank you so much Sarah for taking the time to comment and for your kind words, they are appreciated!
Shes very clear and tackle everything step by step and i love it. I will never forget what i learned from you and im very thankful for it. Also Its helpful to me because im just starting in this VA industry..
Scheduling Status calls every other week is key!
Hi Amy, thanks for taking the time to comment. I so agree!
ohhh What did I learn? Sharing with my clients the fact that I volunteered at parks and recs and assisted in building a dog park! so add project management to my list of skills
Thank you Amy so much and glad it was helpful.
Really appreciated this insight! I’m just getting started, and I like the “new client retainer plan” idea. Also, the idea that the retainer for the first little bit helps me get a feel for how long things are really going to take. Thanks much!
Hey Kim, thank you so much for commenting. You’re most welcome and glad you got some ideas to help you grow your business.
Susan, Your podcasts are fully of great information in such little time. I know I can get valuable information in a short time since your podcasts aren’t filled with all of the extra “fluff”! I’m always able to fit a couple in while taking the kids to extra curricular activities, or while driving!
Hi Katie, thank you so much for taking the to comment and for your kind words. I’m all about the no-fluff, I prefer short, sweet and to the point 😉
Hi Susan, I’m listening to Podcast 100. Congratulations!
I enjoyed your conversation style on this one… and the funny thing is that this could have been a conversation between you and I, 6-7 years ago, when I was growing in my business, from website design to Bohemian Branding. It was one of our conversations that helped me come up with my new brand name.
Hopefully our businesses evolve and grow, with us and as needs change in all industries.
Hey Jen, thank you for taking the time to comment, much appreciated. And you’re so right, this could have been our conversation! It’s been so fun to watch you grow and evolve, so glad I’m along for the journey.
Such a value-packed podcast Susan! Thank you for sharing your more than a decade’s insight and industry experience the way you do!
I absolutely love your no-bs, straight-to-the-point approach. None of that “Make 10K in 30 days or less from your phone with no experience” BS that’s so prevalent now.
Thank you Julie for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it! That’s me no-bs, straight to the point 😉
Hi Susan, Thank you for sharing these excellent tips & tricks. Its really helpful. I’ve been recently thinking of becoming a part-time VA and would appreciate your kind support/guidance on how to get started and where to join as a VA member. How to build my client base. Thank you in advance.

Great tip, since most of us start out as employee, yes we are programmed to say yes when we want to say no and of course we hang onto it as employers as well. This is definitely something that must be unlearned as an Employer
Hey Sandra, thanks for taking the time to comment and you’re so right, it is something that needs to be unlearned.
#95, Great tips, perhaps I will try the background noise such as soft music, I am so easily distracted
Hi Sandra, thank you for taking the time to comment and so glad you found them useful. I love listening to background noise even though I’m in my own office, helps keep me focused.
VATTA #91 – This was very helpful as I toss the question around in my mind a lot! I want a strong
foundation in place so will focus on getting my biz set up. Thanks, as always, for your great advice!
Thank you Jane, glad it was helpful and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Hi Susan – Just listened to VATTA #80. Love that you promote a strong foundation! It just makes good sense. And, you could definitely market “VA Rescue!” 😉 Always enjoy your podcasts..
Hi Jane, thank you for taking the time to comment, much appreciated! LOL… I thought about doing that… doing a VA Rescue for failing VA businesses as most don’t have systems in place just like the bars on Bar Rescue!
I just listened to VATTA #90 What’s in Your Business Policies Document, I so agree with setting boundaries with your clients and how it makes life much easier for you and also how it makes you as a business owner appear so much more professional. Great tip!!
Thank you Sandra for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.
Thanks for this. It’s really insightful. I’m thinking of doing a lead magnet with meeting venue checklist, Covid tech specific ie what tech should be available for a successful virtual meeting or conference. I’m literally just starting out!
Hi Jacqueline, thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. I think that sounds like a great idea for a lead magnet!
Hi. Awesome podcasts, I’ve been binge-listening. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I have 2 questions.
1. What should we call ourselves?
We are friends that have been employees for over 10 years. One of us doing project management, systems, technology in the media world. The other more creative, doing graphic design, social media content creation – all platforms, tech-related to these areas, also, content strategy, email marketing, lead magnets, website design etc…
So are we Digital Specialists or Online Business Managers or something else?
2. Since we are more than one would we say we’re an Agency?
3. Packages? Would we combine all elements we offer into different tiers therefore price points or would we price each service individually?
Thank you so much we appreciate you. We’re going to continue listening to the podcast now.
Hi Sherrie, thank you for taking the time to comment and your kind words – I appreciate it. Here are the answers to your questions – let me know if you need anything else.
1 – Based on what you listed I would lean towards Digital Specialists – business managers manage the business and don’t do creative type stuff normally. You offer a ton of different things, I would almost separate them into 2 buckets. Systems + Tech + Digital Marketing
2 – You don’t have to – no. That is entirely up to you.
3 – Packages are by expertise not hours – so I would say create packages by expertise such as graphic design, social media, etc. Projects are not packages as they would need to be scoped.
thank you so much for this helpful tips and tricks, keep doing this for us you’ve been a very big help before we go on the field, for us not to get mess up in the middle of nowhere.
keep safe susan!
Thank you so much Venus for taking the time to comment and for your kind words too! It’s great to know that all of this is helping others, that’s what I’m all about.
Imposter syndrome definitely describes what I am dealing with, although I know it’s normal, sometimes it feels like it’s abnormal. I am definitely working on changing my mindset, this is something that we all will experience as we explore new challenges when we make new steps in life.
Thank you Sandra, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I agree, it’s normal but sometimes it can be overwhelming and we think it’s just us. I’ve found it’s all how we think about it that makes the difference.
I absolutely love your podcast. Your info is very useful, and you get right to the point. I don’t have a whole lot of time to listen, but get a lot of info in a little bit of time. Plus I totally love your energy. Thank you for all the amazing info!
Erin, thank you so much for the kind words + for taking the time to comment. I personally love short and sweet when it comes to podcasts as I tend to lose my focus.
This was very helpful, you are right it takes time to build a successful business.
Thank you Juana for taking the time to comment. Yes, it does and I think sometimes it’s hard to set realistic goals with all the hype out there.
I’ve been listening to a few of your things and some constructive criticism – there is always content that puts down other VA trainers and I find it incredibly off-putting. You can promote the value of your system without commenting on anyone else.
Hi Melanie, thank you for your input, I appreciate it. I feel that I need to be honest about what is going on in the VA Industry especially for the last 2-3 years. I’ve heard of way too many people paying a huge sum of money for nothing. My goal is to inform people so they can do their own due diligence before they invest their hard earned money. Personally I’m tired of people being taken advantage of and I feel I can make a difference by speaking up.
thank you for this, it was super interesting to listen at.
Do you think having a fixed pricing list (might also be splitted into different price ranges) could show a positive idea of business? I mean structured business model as we are referring to foundations.
Thanks can’t wait for the next episode 😉
Hi Stefania, thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it and so glad you find it interesting. And yes, I think have a fixed pricing list or packages is a great way to show structure.
