Really appreciated this insight! I’m just getting started, and I like the “new client retainer plan” idea. Also, the idea that the retainer for the first little bit helps me get a feel for how long things are really going to take. Thanks much!

Susan, Your podcasts are fully of great information in such little time. I know I can get valuable information in a short time since your podcasts aren’t filled with all of the extra “fluff”! I’m always able to fit a couple in while taking the kids to extra curricular activities, or while driving!

Hi Susan, I’m listening to Podcast 100. Congratulations!
I enjoyed your conversation style on this one… and the funny thing is that this could have been a conversation between you and I, 6-7 years ago, when I was growing in my business, from website design to Bohemian Branding. It was one of our conversations that helped me come up with my new brand name.
Hopefully our businesses evolve and grow, with us and as needs change in all industries.

Such a value-packed podcast Susan! Thank you for sharing your more than a decade’s insight and industry experience the way you do!

I absolutely love your no-bs, straight-to-the-point approach. None of that “Make 10K in 30 days or less from your phone with no experience” BS that’s so prevalent now.

Great tip, since most of us start out as employee, yes we are programmed to say yes when we want to say no and of course we hang onto it as employers as well. This is definitely something that must be unlearned as an Employer

Hi Jane, thank you for taking the time to comment, much appreciated! LOL… I thought about doing that… doing a VA Rescue for failing VA businesses as most don’t have systems in place just like the bars on Bar Rescue!

Thanks for this. It’s really insightful. I’m thinking of doing a lead magnet with meeting venue checklist, Covid tech specific ie what tech should be available for a successful virtual meeting or conference. I’m literally just starting out!

Hi. Awesome podcasts, I’ve been binge-listening. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I have 2 questions.

    1. What should we call ourselves?

We are friends that have been employees for over 10 years. One of us doing project management, systems, technology in the media world. The other more creative, doing graphic design, social media content creation – all platforms, tech-related to these areas, also, content strategy, email marketing, lead magnets, website design etc…

So are we Digital Specialists or Online Business Managers or something else?

    2. Since we are more than one would we say we’re an Agency?

    3. Packages? Would we combine all elements we offer into different tiers therefore price points or would we price each service individually?

Thank you so much we appreciate you. We’re going to continue listening to the podcast now.

Hi Sherrie, thank you for taking the time to comment and your kind words – I appreciate it. Here are the answers to your questions – let me know if you need anything else.
1 – Based on what you listed I would lean towards Digital Specialists – business managers manage the business and don’t do creative type stuff normally. You offer a ton of different things, I would almost separate them into 2 buckets. Systems + Tech + Digital Marketing
2 – You don’t have to – no. That is entirely up to you.
3 – Packages are by expertise not hours – so I would say create packages by expertise such as graphic design, social media, etc. Projects are not packages as they would need to be scoped.

    Great podcast,

Imposter syndrome definitely describes what I am dealing with, although I know it’s normal, sometimes it feels like it’s abnormal. I am definitely working on changing my mindset, this is something that we all will experience as we explore new challenges when we make new steps in life.

Thank you Sandra, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I agree, it’s normal but sometimes it can be overwhelming and we think it’s just us. I’ve found it’s all how we think about it that makes the difference.

I’ve been listening to a few of your things and some constructive criticism – there is always content that puts down other VA trainers and I find it incredibly off-putting. You can promote the value of your system without commenting on anyone else.

Hi Melanie, thank you for your input, I appreciate it. I feel that I need to be honest about what is going on in the VA Industry especially for the last 2-3 years. I’ve heard of way too many people paying a huge sum of money for nothing. My goal is to inform people so they can do their own due diligence before they invest their hard earned money. Personally I’m tired of people being taken advantage of and I feel I can make a difference by speaking up.

    Hi Susan,

thank you for this, it was super interesting to listen at.
Do you think having a fixed pricing list (might also be splitted into different price ranges) could show a positive idea of business? I mean structured business model as we are referring to foundations.

Thanks can’t wait for the next episode 😉
