Do Virtual Assistants Need A Website? 100% – If They Want To Be Seen As Professional VAs!

I’m sure you’ve heard different views on whether or not Virtual Assistants need a website. Based on my experience, I am in the “yes” camp on this one. Yes, you need one because you need a website for ANY kind of business.

A Few Reasons Why Virtual Assistants Need A Website

  • Show that you’re a legit business and not some sort of scam.
  • Show you’re a serious business owner and not a hobbyist.
  • To be recognized as a professional.
  • To build your creditability.
  • To work with professionals.
  • To charge premium rates.
  • To build your following.
  • To get sales.
  • To display your work.
  • It’s your #1 business asset.

Now I know there are people who build a legitimate business without one, but nowadays they are in the minority. Many people including myself will not work with someone who doesn’t have a website.

Even a simple one-page website will do as long as it tells me:

  • Who you are.
  • What you do (your services).
  • How you help your clients.
  • How to contact you.

Why You Can’t Rely On Social Media

You see, you own your website which means you control it and its content. You don’t own social media or your followers, friends, or subscribers. What happens if the only online presence you have are your social media profiles and you get blacklisted? Best case you’re in Facebook jail for a week, in the worst case you’re banned.

What will you do then? How will people find you? Everyone relies on the internet to find out about everything, including you. If you’re blacklisted or banned, you won’t have an online presence. So tell me how can you be viewed as a legit business owner without one? In my opinion, you can’t or you won’t be by prospective clients.

Start With A 1-Page Website

So if you’re one of the many Virtual Assistants that need a website, start with a simple 1-page site. You can use WordPress or something like Squarespace to create one. I’m a WordPress person, so I recommend it over Squarespace since it’s 90% of your clients will have a WP website and it’s an in-demand service. They both have free versions to help you get started.

Remember, your website just needs to tell me:

  • Who you are.
  • What you do (your services).
  • How you help your clients.
  • How to contact you.

That’s enough to show that you’re a serious and legitimate business owner. Plus if you’re looking to embrace all things digital marketing, your website becomes the hub of your online presence. It’s where you drive traffic to get them into your funnel so you can build your email list and increase your sales.
