There Are Many Misconceptions About What A Virtual Assistant Is And What They Are Not.
One of the biggest ones I see is that Virtual Assistants are “employees” or “hourly workers“. Both of these are false.
In this week’s video blog I talk about a few of these misconceptions as well as what a Virtual Assistant is.
Thanks for listening.
I’d love to hear what you think. Please take a moment to leave a comment below and share your thoughts and questions. Or, feel free to share what you learned from this video.
Enjoy your day – Susan
You have confirmed that I am expressing what a VA does and is correctly when I speak to potential clients. Thanks for the information.
Great, thank you for taking the time comment Djwanna.
Great Vlog! I could have used that when I first started. Huge mistake to charge an hourly rate! Looking forward to next week’s Vlog. I stopped telling people I’m a VA and simply say what I do and add in the word “virtually”. When someone asks me what a VA is I tell them that it is a person who is an expert in his/her field that you contract with virtually. If they can think of the project I can find them a VA.
Awesome Melissa – love your explanation!
Great video Susan! I’ve actually had many conversations about this same topic recently, so many that I’ve now revamped my website to explain what a VA is, what a VA can do for you, and how to work with a VA. That way there’s hopefully no question about what we are, how we work, and how to work with us.
Awesome topic!

Thank you Natalie, it is all about educating the public 😉
I have to explain this to potential clients all the time!
I know what you mean Alexa 😉
Glad there are others out there that don’t really have a “resume” per se. I usually give them my LI profile to look at, as well the testimonial page on my website.
Hi Jennifer, your LinkedIn Profile is a great option as well especially if you have recommendations.
Great video. Good clarifications.
Thank you Lisa!
Great explanation of what a Virtual Assistant is. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Ruth!
